His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reviewed the cultural district project, located within the Azizi Venice community in Dubai South. The district is situated in the Azizi Venice community in Dubai South. Azizi Developments initiated the project with the goal of enhancing Dubai’s cultural and artistic milieu and fostering innovation within the creative sector.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the principal components of the project by Mirwais Azizi, Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments. The project’s goals are to improve Dubai’s position in international competitiveness indices and bolster its position as a major global cultural hub. The ground-breaking initiative demonstrates Dubai’s commitment to nurturing creative talent and bolsters the city’s position as one of the world’s leading centers for the creative industries.

The cultural district project in Dubai South supports the leadership’s vision to make Dubai a global hub for the creative economy and is in line with the objectives of the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy. The project aims to drive global leadership in culture and creativity by creating an environment that is encouraging for creatives, investors, and entrepreneurs. The core of this initiative is creative business incubators, which use cutting-edge technology to empower creatives and improve the industry’s global competitiveness.

The cultural district in Dubai South will be home to a number of exceptional facilities, including theaters, opera houses, exhibition halls, and performing arts academies. Highlighting the cultural district’s reflection of Dubai’s commitment to both authenticity and modernity, he said: “This project embodies Dubai’s rich cultural tapestry and its understanding of culture’s vital role in fostering vibrant communities, economic prosperity, and social stability.”

The Dubai South cultural district provides an impressive array of venues aimed at enhancing the emirate’s artistic landscape. At its core, the opera house has 2,500 seats and is designed in a cutting-edge, futuristic style by Zaha Hadid Architects.

The opera house will be outfitted with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment to guarantee an unparalleled artistic experience. A more private 400-seat theater provides a versatile space for comedies, dramas, smaller performances, and art classes.

Wide exhibition halls that can accommodate up to 2,000 people further improve the district’s offerings. This versatile venue, which can accommodate a broad range of local, national, and international exhibitions, can showcase anything from sculptures and paintings to cutting-edge digital art. In recognition of the importance of nurturing future artists, the district will also house a performing arts academy. This academy will play a major role in the development of the next generation of artists, who are prepared to leave their mark on the vibrant cultural scene of the United Arab Emirates.
