Dubai has moved up four spots to rank fifth out of 100 cities worldwide for city brands, behind London, New York, Paris, and Tokyo, according to the most recent Brand Finance Global City Index, which was released on Thursday.
Dubai’s top ranking for reputation is equal to its top ranking in the business and investment pillar. The acceptance of working locally (from the 16th to the 8th) and remotely (from the 24th to the 4th) has also significantly improved in the city.
The emirate is a center for innovation and start-ups thanks to programs like the Dubai Future Foundation, which help it rank first for future growth potential. Dubai’s standing as a top investment destination is further cemented by the fact that it is the best city in the world for investment consideration. Its strong and steady economy comes in second, and its alluring personal taxes come in third.
“Dubai’s rise to become the world’s fifth-best city brand is primarily driven by its achievement of ranking first globally for reputation. This enhanced perception underscores the effectiveness of the UAE government’s strategic investments in infrastructure, tourism, and the business ecosystem. The substantial improvements in Dubai’s consideration metrics further highlight the city’s increasing allure as a premier destination for visitors, residents, businesses, and global investors,” said Andrew Campbell, Managing Director, Brand Finance Middle East.
The most recent study offered a comprehensive analysis of how people view the leading city brands worldwide, analyzing responses from over 15,000 participants across 20 countries.
Respondents were asked to rate 100 cities on familiarity, reputation, and consideration to determine how strongly they believed they were desirable places to live, work, study, visit, retire, and invest.
Abu Dhabi remained at number 30 in the 2023 global ranking, despite rising eight spots to 24th place. Surprisingly, the city has risen 12 spots from 2023 to rank second for investment consideration and 15 spots from 2023 to rank ninth globally for consideration of remote work.
With two points for possible future growth and four points for being a great location for innovations and start-ups, Abu Dhabi also receives an impressive five stars in the business and investment pillar. The city has risen 16 spots to 20 in the world for being regarded as a leader in science and technology, which further demonstrates its growing appeal as a center for innovation.
